F'ing Scott Prince

Yes, f-ing Scott Prince indeed. This was suppose to be my first game of the season against a tricky though inferior opposition. With the Bulldogs going to bed for a good part of the game basically only bothering with the first and last 10 minutes of the game, the game proved to a emotional rollercoaster. The rest is history and well done to the Tigers. A 14 point Bulldogs victory would have been better though, I'm sure Jeff wouldn't have minded too much.

In other news, work had me romping around the streets of North Ryde-Macquarie Uni in search of little white and red plant pots as part of our team orienteering day. The catch was it was absolutely pissing down on Wednesday - cue, bring out the ponchos... Yes, a whole 25 of us Actuarial losers in white ponchos about 5 times too big for us going thru the uni bar. Shame on us... it was bloody fun though, particularly the part where we trampled through knee-high grass. Came 4th, 3rd if you exclude the cheaters and 1st if we weren't blind and spent 15 minutes searching for the one clue.

In other news, I'm flogging off some old Star Wars books on ebay. Feel free to bid for them and up the price =) Find them here, here and here.

My 2 cents worth...

And given this is my blog, I think I'm entitled to it =)

Survivor went crap a long time ago. Not since the days of first year uni has it been any good when participants would laze around and attempt to pick each other up. Too many alliances now, too much competition and too many repeats.

Amazing Race on the other hand is driven by the scenary and the different task at each roadblock, fast forward and detour. The personalities amidst the speedy and high intensity environment make you love it. How good are Adam and Rebecca, Jonathan and Victoria? On that note, why the hell would you do the Amazing Race with your ex... that's just asking for trouble.

With my work team day at Club Macq, long weekend, orientation day and my impeding graduation... it looks like a 3 day week, followed by a 4 and then another 3. Fantastic! On the other hand, work is proving to be a headache at the moment... I'm calling it the Actuarial equivalent of explaining why 1+1=3... it freaking doesn't.

In other news, "Birmingham manager Steve Bruce has hailed Emile Heskey as 'England's best centre-forward of his type'" - and what type may that be? The fat crap type?

Ponderings

So over the last two weeks its occurred to me that life is definitely changing and with change come new decisions and they bring some serious thinking. Thus far my serious thinking has lead to these decisions regarding life and this year - these could be considered remarkably late new year's resolutions, so here we go....

a) Donate blood, the Red Cross blood bank is across the road from work, so this should be easy and if I collapse, I'll get the day off sick + I did a good deed. I also gather my bloodtype is the good one, ie, every bloodtype can accept it.

b) Plant a lemon or lime tree in my backyard. More a function of my tightness, as I tend to be buying lots of lemons when I get sore throats. Also, we never seem to have lemons when we eat fish.

c) I've decided my dedicated viewing programs for the present tv programming season:
  • Amazing Race - easily takes the cake as #1
  • NRL games involving the Bulldogs are considered must see's
  • Desperate Housewives - I've managed to be hooked, yes, this one may be a little concerning
  • The NRL Footy Show is coming into the reckoning, but we'll see as it results in the taping of the Amazing Race
Profound, hey?

Work - Week 1

Well, its quickly come and gone. I don't get it, work leaves me absolutely exhausted. But its not like I'm a brick-layer carrying stuff around, I freaking sit on my arse and look at numbers. Further, I've had more meetings than actual work in the last few days. Quite confusing this. Highly disappointing is the lack of an office NRL tipping competition - I think I'll have to initate it.
