The fortnight that was

The fortnight that past resulted in:

My work futsal team getting beaten 4-2 to miss out on the finals - this was extremely depressing given we were 2-1 up and only needed a draw to go through. Further, my boss spent 2 hours searching for a ring-in or two given our work-related injury woes. Maybe next season...

Had our annual End of Financial Year, Now We're Free Enough to Celebrate Party which was fantatsic. It didn't end up with a lost belt, blood on pants and random actuarial chicks like some others, but it did involve random facts about co-workers and significant free-of-charge alcohol consumption which is always good. One of my bosses was arrested in suscipion of armed robbery in the UK - shows how incompotent the UK police are in looking for suspects, or maybe my boss was really that dodgey. Another random fact - did you know the Virgin Mary is the women that has appeared most often on the cover of TIME magazine?

My sporting teams have continued their prolonged period of shitness. Less said about the Australian cricket and rugby teams the better, even less about the Bulldogs. Hayden has to be dropped, brute force doesn't work against quality bowlers and the lack of depth in Australian rugby has been brutally exposed particularly in areas such as fly-half and lock-forward. And the 'dogs, just unlucky with injuries and they need better team balance.

Struggling to study, loving the procrastination...

And finally, I think I get this every so often...

City2Surf2Pain

City2Surf is the cause of my absence from Oztag, its also the cause of a great deal of pain to my lower body. But I gave it my best shot resulting in an adjusted time of 93 minutes, different to the official adjusted time of 106 minutes, as my adjustment accounts for the bottleneck behind the start line. I'm pretty pleased with my performance given the 100-120 minutes target and the free BBQ and massage courtesy of work. Not pleasing was the performance of my running shoes leaving my feet is pain. Also, pleasing was that I beat a certain someone reversing last year's performance.

In other news, I'm ploughing away with work and study - Oztag team is still losing. Work Futsal team is one game away from the finals. And CityRail is still a pathetic service despite a new Premier (who looks rather uncomfortable in front of the camera and rather weak).

Now maybe I've got my head screwed on incorrectly, but isn't it weird when you're served by a curry guy at EasyWay?

Lawn Bowls

Lawn bowls - looks like a game for the old geysers dressed in their whites, but geez, its a tough game. Great game for a leisurely Saturday afternoon basking in the winter sun. Tough game for the mind, especially when it comes to those long ends - its bloody tough to judge the length. Keeps pulling up short or putting too much behind it. And doing the big rev up and smacking it down the centre is actually a lot harder than it looks. Got a few on target though, especially on the short ends.

Also, won $10 the bowls club raffle =)

It's Bank Holiday as well.... fantastic!
