69...

is an interesting number. It strikes up many connotations. Its also one less than the number of hours I worked last week.

As reward i've joined the iPod revolution with my acquisition of a 30 GB video. No, none of those pissy little iPod Nano's, I want my iPod to have balls. Now I've gotta find my iPod a skin or something to keep it looking good...

Sports Report

Australia v Uruguay - Football
Pretty happy with the 1-nil loss particularly in the context of: Losing 3-0 last time round and the fact Uruguay have a pretty miserable away record. The major risk is conceding an away goal in Sydney, Uruguay always seem to look dangerous from set pieces. But we're still in with a chance, a pretty good chance as well I'd say.

Australia v England - Rugby
Unfortunately, there is no second leg in rugby and its the seventh loss - in a row. Frankly the tight five is pathetic and the England scrum, particularly Sheridan was tearing the Aussies apart. You particularly notice this when Channel Seven uses "impartial" English commentators. Gregan has to go - people have been calling for his head all season and we're still 2 years out from the World Cup. Let's face it, if you're struggling now and you're 34 or whatever he is, you're really going to struggle for the World Cup. True, the forward pack hasn't been helping but Whits looked so much better.

Westies v Gropers - Oztag
Unbelievably we won 11-5. Even more unbelievable was the fact we didn't concede any tries in the first half. It's only the first game, so let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Kickboxing
Tried my hand at this. It kind of lures you in after the first session and you feel fantastic afterwards, but then the pain slowly comes... after two days you can't walk properly. Those high kicks have really stuffed my legs. But for some reason I think I'll be back.

Under a rock

I have since re-emerge from under my rock. My last post was 7 words and I got 7 comments... wow. Thanks for your kind words of support. Anyhow, we'll know come December 19, then I can jump off a cliff - some lady laughed at me when I suggested that on the train... how inconsiderate, I could have been suicidal. Life has been good since though... there's so much freaking time and summer's here... so maybe I'll wait till winter to jump the cliff.

Couple of random events:

Nik and Ass' engagement. Good seeing everyone again, its strange coz when the whole mob get together its always an exceptional good night. On that basis and train of thought, you would think it would happen more often. Doesn't happen.

Went to the UNSW Young Alumni Drinks @ Arthouse under the pretense that the international students at UNSW would be subsidising our drinks. But no... its bring you're own cash and buy your own drinks. Hmm... sounds familiar. The event probably had 100-150 coming and going throughout the night... I knew 5 people there? Says something about my uni life, or something about my mates being clever enough to not go to a user pays event. I think its the latter.

Saw 40 Year Old Virgin - one stupid movie. But its pretty funny and carries the underlying message that abstainence is OK if you can find the message beneath all sex jokes.

On the subject of virgins, I lost my Amazon.com virginity buying The West Wing Season 1 & 2 for USD20 each. What a steal! Now I've just got to wait 3-4 weeks for my USD9 P+H to deliver my DVDs.

Also been have many conversations with people my age about purchasing property and moving out. For some reason, with different groups of people, its a common conversation to come up at lunches. Conversations once covering sporting teams, TV & movies and random thoughts are now diverging to cover home renovations and offset mortgage accounts. Decided a number of things:

1. Can't afford a mortgage - this deep thought took a whole 0.1 milliseconds
2. An investment property would have to be afar. Not Sydney, probably not even an Australian capital city... its about finding the right area and overcoming these geographical boundaries.
3. A moving out property would have to be an apartment
4. Lower North Shore seems to be a popular place, particularly areas close to the railway line. I do, however, quite like Balmain's proximity to the city, cafes and bars - kind of like Newtown without the weirdos.
