Season Greetings
Its that time of the year again, where the silly season begins and the Xmas lights emerge. Some houses go to far too much effort, with houses in my neighbourhood picking up the trend. For some bizarre reason I'm tempted to get some lights at a post-Xmas sale in preparation for next year. In saying that I just know I'm going to be too lazy for that.
"Best wishes for you and your families this holiday season." Its such a politically correct line thats spun around the office email from senior management. Happy holidays emails have been ridiculously abundant, I'd rather people not bother to be honest - mass emails spreading festive cheer seem a bit impersonal.
Year in reflection posts at appeared at number of blogs, shall I begin mine? 2005 has come and gone ridiculously quickly - a worrying trend given full-time employment. Would 2006 be any better? Perhap the question would be "What would I change in 2005?"
Fundamentally 2005 was good - of course I could be better and I'm going to be greedy here:
- I could earn more and work less, or even better, get paid ridiculous sums for doing nothing;
- Study less and still pass - but if the latter was true, it wouldn't matter;
- Win more Oztag games, or, win Oztag games;
- Spend more time with friends and people I actually care about;
- Meet new people that I'm actually bothered/care to keep in contact with (2005 count = 0);
- Have the Bulldogs win back-to-back GF and not having been reminded of how great the Tigers are; and;
- Have World Peace
New Years Resolution was to donate blood - didn't happen. Would it happen? Probably not as I'm scared of blood and needles. As for next year? hmmm... make it as good as this year will be. A nice broad, highly subjective resolution which undoubtedly be easy to evaluate.
So to all, a highly impersonal comment to all of you - "Best wishes for you and your families this holiday season."
Finally, to people in AIESEC NZ - I'm not Matt Ho
