March Rant

Summer has come and gone, and with it goes the cricket and in comes the footy season. Bulldogs will do alright this season, I'm doubting they'll set the world alight though...hopefully SBW will be back in the place.

Friday night saw dinner at "Relish at the Balmain Bug" - a charming little restaurant with great service and fabulous food. The duck was fantastic as was the free soup. Conversely, I thought Max Brenners was over-rated. Well, I stand corrected, the chocolate was fantastic but the 1/2 hour wait was plain stupid. As was its out-of-the-way near at Double Bay via the Cross City Tunnel.

Cross-City tunnel is a nice piece of infrastructure but there wasn't a car in sight - no wonder they lowered the toll - looks, as with the Airport rail link, like another white elephant in the making. Its stupid - new infrastructure should supplement existing infrastructure, not deem existing infrastructure null and void by closing roads. Now I'm on infrastructure, I need to make my obligatory whinge on the train system. Need more air-conditioned trains....

Commonwealth Games - who cares? How is it even remotely possible that these would surpass the Sydney Games as Vic Premier Bracks suggests? Any "games" without the Americans, Russian, Germans and Chinese - the top 4 Gold medal winning countries - would certainly be a second class event. The women's swimming would, however, be something to look forward to given the strength of the Australian women's swim team.

Now as for the Channel 9 TV show "Clever," which is on in the background, its basically "Brainaic" blended with some celebrities. Its the same concept, pointless experiments and women flashing around - in saying I think its a stupid show but I seem to be drawn to it and its not the women flashing around!
